OTHER PROJECTS: EINHEIT 731 (DEFUNCT)

RRUK: Let’s start with your band name, what made you choose it for this project?

S.T.A.B. Okay originally I had another project called Einheit 731 Which was more dark brooding/industrial ambient! After the death of one of my most favorite artists Marco Corbelli of Atrax Morgue. I wanted to do a kind of tribute to him, so the name S.T.A.B. ELECTRONICS was born as Marco had a fondness for knives! After a positive reaction from various individuals, after my first ever S.T.A.B. track “I don’t give a fuck” on a tribute to Streicher tape, I decided to drop the Einheit moniker and carry on as S.T.A.B. As for what the name means, it can mean anything you want, but that’s not for you to know!

RRUK: How would you describe your sound and working process?

S.T.A.B. Everything I do is layered sound building blocks if you will. It can come from a found sample from a movie I have been watching. I work slowly and I like a dirtier sound! As for the description I have always called it raw concrete industrial others call it power electronics that’s apt as well!

RRUK: About the instruments and technology you use to produce the sound, do you constantly update them, or are old synths and the like still good for your purposes?

S.T.A.B. I try to utilize everything I can lay my hands on! Most modern synths lack the Bite or bass of the older analogue synths, so the use of these for that bass heavy sound is important. Newer stuff like apple macs or ibooks I have no interest in, and tbh, i find it lacks integrity using a mac in a live situation just flip open your mac-book and press play is tbh a bit dishonest! So yes give me older Korg synths or my trusty old Dx 7 any day!

stab 3

RRUK: Who or what influences you and your sound?

S.T.A.B. Hmmm, that’s hard… who? Mainly my peers – the likes of Con-Dom, Streicher, The Grey Wolves, Genocide Organ, Whitehouse, good old Italian acts like The Sodality, and of course Atrax Morgue. The maniacal perverse sounds of Bizarre uproar or Grunt . The concrete slabs of staccato of Slogun! Also the Brutality of my brother in arms: SHIFT! The scraping of metal and chains from HAL HUTCHINSON! I Also love and have done since I was a mere boy: T.G or Cabaret Voltaire! And More Modern rough German E.B.M (not to be confused with the weiber electro you hear in most modern alternative venues) Films such as Seul contre tous (I stand alone a film, which is P.E defined)
Extreme pornography is also a useful influence people debasing themselves in piss and shit is a constant fascination or the docu drama Cadavers About life in a Spanish Asylum and morgue! Sex, death, life, abuse of power. You know all the good stuff. A De Sadean nightmare!

RRUK: With regards to electronic/experimental artists, which band did you discover first? How did you come across them?

S.T.A.B. Oh definitely T.G. at the tender age of 13 my brother, who was a punk when it first reared its ugly head, had bought united when it came out…. I liked the sounds as I was a big Kraftwerk fan! And also heavily liked early stuff, like the human leagues album: Reproduction. He bought me Nag Nag Nag by Cabaret Voltaire, and I never looked back!

RRUK: A lot of “noise” artists tend to release 30+ albums per year. What are your thoughts regarding this rushed approach?

S.T.A.B. Hmmm…. I’m not much into this. I like the less is more approach! I mean, c’mon who needs 30 albums of crap sounding feedback staccato on a craply printed CDR! I don’t. Then again, I dislike the genre anyway. Cheap and disposable!

RRUK: Do you have a preferred format for your work, e.g. vinyl, cassette, CD, download. And is there a format for which you would never use?

S.T.A.B. Vinyl cassette CD is fine. With me, vinyl is nice but not essential. As for download…nope! I have never bought music online like this, as its killing off a once healthy industry of record shops and such! I don’t like the invisible media music it should have a physical approach. I know people who have shed all their precious music and put everything on their precious apple products, and lost the lot! I mean how stupid and retarded can you get.

RRUK: What is your opinion in particular of Power Electronics, Noise, and Japanoise, looking at their main artists like Merzbow, Masonna?

S.T.A.B. Well my chosen genre is P.E and it’s a hard taskmaster. There are individuals who think, “Oh I can do that it’s easy”…. NO! What I and certain other individuals do takes time to hone down, to perfect , to make it PURE! Live situations demand Brutality, and certain individuals don’t have this, as they’re too week…. too effeminate! As for Jap stuff… never for me again. I like rumbling frequencies. I like content. I saw merzbore live a while ago and he was using two apple macs, just sitting there blasting static at everyone, it was pointless! I find that a lot in the Jap scene, and tbh – in the USA and small minorities in the UK. While I like noise with some kind of structure I’m not a fan of the Jap stuff at all! Again, all too pointless!

RRUK: I would like to ask you if you are interested in which kind of people listen to your sound, I mean, how do you imagine him/her to be?

S.T.A.B. Of course, it’s a great honor for me when I meet somebody who gets off on what I do! As for what I imagine, hmmmm…. maybe covered in excrement! Or cutting themselves up in a dark cell!!!

RRUK: Women seem to be a main focus in the noise/PE scene…..bondage themes, and track titles. Are you interested in deviated or perverted sexual behaviors? If so, what attracts you so much in sexual violence and language?

S.T.A.B. ELECTRONICS CARES NOT FOR GENDER, MALE OR FEMALE, MEAT IS MEAT, AND MEAT GETS FUCKED! It’s nice of course we are all guilty of it! Yes, it’s been overdone but it works. I have my own agendas, fighting against shady misandry and such, but it’s what we are, its the human condition to be curious of such things! In life we are all humiliated in one way or another. My interest spans all realms of the perverse! I mean why would you suck on a turd?? I like that Kind of detachment, the total debasement of the self! I mean, the greatest pornography is the written word! Read De Sade or Sotos. Wonderful stuff which lets your imagination run riot! Saying that, waterpower will always have a big influence on me!!!

RRUK: Are you interested in serial killers? Do you think they are a typical product of 20th century society, and what is your opinion about in particular American “serial killer culture” ?

S.T.A.B. Some aspects maybe so but mostly it’s a cliché in this sub-genre, done to death! I liked John from Slogun’s take on it. That we shouldn’t glorify these subhumans, but we should think they are weak…. they deserve a bullet in the temple! I like aspects of say; Javed Iqbal who sodomized and murdered over 100 young boys and then threw their remains in vats of acid ! The only reason he did it was simply because he could! I mean what goes through your head? You have to be pretty fucked up to want to commit to something like that! But, that’s humanity isn’t it?? We Kill, we eat, we fuck! In retrospect, every despot could be a serial killer. Idi Amin anyone ? The only serial killer I was ever interested in, over in the USA was the zodiac! And maybe Arthur Shawcross. That’s it! The US has always had a kind of victim…mentality, anyway! So yeah, there is way too much interesting things elsewhere on this planet to be looking at the good old USA! Gimme a good old genocide in Rwanda any day!

RRUK: Totally agree with that! If you could perform live anywhere in the world… where would it be?

S.T.A.B. Hmmmm, okay, while i love playing on these shores! I did my first S.T.A.B. act on the continent in Prague! The two shows I did with Shift don’t count as I was just helping out a good friend! As for A favorite place, maybe Germany, Leipzig Berlin or Mannheim would be nice! Saying that a rowdy show in the states would be good. Finland is also a possibility! Or a good show in a rubber dungeon …the smell of bodies in excremental pleasure! I think would go down well!!

stab 4

RRUK: I’m sure it would! With regards to other sound projects, is there any country in particular that inspire you more than others?

S.T.A.B. Hmmmm, not really. Maybe the cold clinical industrial wasteland of Mannheim in Germany or the Finnish way of looking at things

RRUK: Do you listen to different types of music? A secret Elvis collection, perhaps?!

S.T.A.B. Of course if you listened to what we do all day you would be a sad sad individual, don’t you think! As for Elvis, I’d listen to his desiccated corpse being eaten away. Yes, I can go through days of listening to Zappa, or the residents, then black metal as stated. I like good old EBM… Think of bands like a;grumh or Daf, or Front 242, up until official version. I have a weakness for Roxy Music Yello or sparks, and then early, and I mean early synthpop – not the weakened e driven music you hear now where most of these vile little pricks are so out of their brains on ketamine they wouldn’t even know what they are listening to! I’m originally from the bleak north end of Liverpool. I grew up on stuff like Echo And The Bunnymen. Though if you play the Beatles – I will bite off your fucking head!

RRUK: *Hides my copy of Yellow Submarine* ! (joke). What first, chicken or the egg?

S.T.A.B. Neither. Eggs are chicken periods! And I fucking love a good period!

RRUK: I bet you do! Anything else you would like to add here?

S.T.A.B. ONE DAY YOU WILL BE DEAD! WORM FOOD FOR THE MASSES!

RRUK: Skull fucked by maggots! Thanks a lot, Keith!
